I put Linux Mint on my wife's laptop about two years ago and she loves it. She uses it for photo editing and basic computing and it has been rock solid. It has been very user friendly for her, and that makes my life a little easier as well. I'm an Arch user myself, but I knew that since she travels a lot, it would be easier to put her on a non rolling release distro. Linux Mint has been a great choice. She had me shopping for a new laptop for her today, and I suspect that she'll want to put Mint on that as well.

have been using Linux for 23 years, have tried using approx 30 different distros at length for my business & for productivity ...Linux Mint has (IMHO) evolved into one of the top 3 modern Linux distros as it easily eclipses most other distros (as well as MacOS & Windows) in terms of functionality, intuitiveness, ease of use, stability and true productivity.

I love Mint so much, I wouldn't be on linux if it wasn't for this distro.

Mint is my distro of choice. Running 21 on my Dell Latitude 5270, and everything works out of the box.

Thanks for the look at 21. Just upgraded to 20.3 and it feels stable. The Blueman manager that came with it feels a lot smoother than the bluetooth in the past. I know I have a little time yet but I'm starting to devlope a plan for my wife's computer when win 10 is no longer supported. She has used linux mint in the past without any real issues. I think she's going to be using it in the future.

I'm using Mint on my desktop that I built over 10 years ago. Still running great and I can even do some modern gaming too like my computer will run the Witcher 3 at 1080p near 40-50fps.

blueman is not a backend it's more of a frontend

Webp preview support out of the box is nice. With Arch/Gnome I'm not sure how to do it without some monkeying around.

I really like linux mint and i always return to it. Pop!os has spoiled me with tilling/kernel/cosmic combo though. Nevertheless, i just installed mint to test it. Those 2 distros are the most polished and stable in my opinion. I use rescuezilla and i make image backup. So i can switch around between LMDE/mint/pop!os if needed. Any chance on reviewing nala as a front end for apt? It is a game changer. Makes apt distros much more appealing

one thing that blew me away about Mint distro is where it was installed on an x86 tablet - it had a wonderful soft keyboard implementation (especially relative to other Linux distros that claim to be a touch screen device distro)

I have dual boot Mint 20.3/Manjaro and both are great!
Better performance on games in Manjaro, i use Mint for work (Office, Multimedia, Browsing the Web, etc...
I will probably stick with Mint 20.3 until support ends since all works just fine and because upgrade to 21 could cause many issues, i don't wanna lose anything!
Clean install of new version is more recommended, probably do a clean install when Mint 22 is around xD

I am currently using Linux Mint 20.3 on an ASUS chromebox that I reconfigured for an OS change. I have had this machine on 24/7 for the past 5 months without shutting down and it just keeps running. I don't see why I should, or even would, change to Linux Mint 21 as there is practically no change. So with that said, I am happy with Linux Mint 20.3.

Linux Mint is the best general purpose distro, and I'd rather use Cinnamon on Linux Mint rather than on EndeavourOS. It just feels wrong anywhere else.

I think the window manager change is aiming for wayland.

Matt, what's the problem you've had with Linux Mint in the past?

I keep trying to 'break-up' with Linux Mint, because it seems a little stayed and dull. But it's often the only distro that pulls it out of the bag, in so many situations.

A neighbour was recently throwing out an old gaming machine with Nvidia graphics card, so I thought I'd put one of the 'bigger' distros on it such as Ubuntu, or better still Pop!_os with the Nvidia iso. Both gave me the blinking cursor of death, even after hours of trying different fixes.

However, Linux Mint took it in its stride, booted to desktop and even recommended two Nvidia solutions in its driver manager. I'm now gaming like a (2015) pro!!!

I'm sorry Linux Mint - I will never be unfaithful again. X

Mint is such a crowd pleaser. If only it was based on Debian directly making LMDE the main Mint 🙏😌
