Walmart work boots & house slippers = tier -1. Carl Morawski’s video cutting one in half made me feel like I needed PPE and commercial dust collection just watching it.

When my dad was working as a fiberglass grinder for a boat builder, he went through his Wolverine steel-toes every 6 months to a year. The fiberglass dust wore through the toes of his boots like he had been rubbing them against sandpaper every day. We usually had to replace his heavy Carhart work pants every 6 months, too. If you are wearing the boots for style, not for work safety requirements, they should last for years.

Wore Red Wings 31 years as a Union Pipefitter. Very good shoe.

R.M. Williams boots are also very high-quality, that will last you for many years, however they're expensive ranging from $600-$700 AUD. If you want a cheaper boot, that is good value for the price, then Rodd and Gunn boots are a fantastic option ranging from $150-$250 AUD.

Interested to know, where would you place Oak Street Bootmakers and R.M. Williams?

I made the jump from tier 1 to a pair of Nicks because those Tier 1 boots just killed me with blisters doing forestry. I’ve been wearing those Nick’s Builder Pros daily for nearly 2 years and they are going strong probably a mother 6 months before I’ll need a resole!

I’ve danced all over the tiers and prices so far my Blundstones are My Personal favorite for all around boots. I also have a pair of bunny boots that I swear by for the snow and winter . I live in Buffalo, ny and when dealing with snow mud and salt these are the two I recommend

How about Nicks, RM Williams and Viberg?

Thanks for this handy tip regarding boot tiers! I definitely need to look at some tier 1 boots at the very least. I'm tired of going through boots every couple months.

I had a pair of Wolverine SS back in the day, amazing boot. Gave them to my dad, kind of wish I had kept them 😂

I have never had any luck with Wolverine boots. Most wear out in a year. Best boots I have ever had have been Ariat & Chippewa.

Surprised you didn't mention White's and Drew's - they're what I think of when I think good boots. Also American duchess, for historical boots is pretty good
