Canada Disqualified In 4x100m Relay

Canada has been disqualified from the final of the men's 4x100-metre relay at the London Olympics after initially appearing to win the bronze medal.

Stupidity is the judges posting a bronze medal finish on the scoreboard while knowing there was a potential infraction. Canadian sprinters showed tremendous class in the middle of crushing disappointment, especially the guy who committed the error. By putting it all on himself, he showed the heart, and grace of a champion. This quartet was brilliant and the country should show them the gratitude they deserve. Sometimes we admire qualities in athletes that are way beyond their physical skills.

You are right, I saw that one too. Also saw the women's race and the woman runner - name?? that won her heat had stepped completely over the line into the next lane and still won her heat. If they disqualify for the race, they should do the same for the heat. That was USA too. Love USA but they need to be consistent with rules.

That's about the stupidest rule there could be for stepping on a line. There should be a certain time knocked off your clock for stepping on the line. If you step 'over' the line I could see a disqualification, but stepping 'on' the line, come on, these people train for years for this and it's gone because of a centimeter?? They should change this rule to be a penalty of something like .05 seconds or something of the like. There could literally be a winning team that wins by a full second that loses because of a toe on the line. It's ridiculous.
