NHS leaders warn of intense pressure as Covid cases surge across UK - BBC News

There's more evidence of the intense pressure on the NHS as Covid-19 infections surge across the UK.

NHS Trusts warned they faced an “extremely challenging” situation with almost as many patients in hospital as at the peak of the first wave of the pandemic in April.

London Ambulance Service said Boxing Day was one of its busiest days ever, with winter pressures compounded by coronavirus.

Doctors in Scotland have warned that services could be overwhelmed if the relaxing of rules over Christmas leads to a surge in cases.

I was in a cardio ward in the queen Elizabeth hospital on Xmas and Boxing Day. I think I was the only person in the entire ward which is extremely unusual.
