- This is a self-study reference and practice book for INTERMEDIATE (B1, B2) learners. It has well over 100 units and covers just about every grammar topic you could imagine, including verb tenses, prepositions, modal verbs, phrasal verbs, relative clauses… I love this book because each topic gives both a page of explanations and a page of exercises. The explanations are extremely clear! The answers are in the back of the book, and it even includes extra review exercises.
- It is also a great resource for teachers!
- This version includes an interactive eBook with downloadable audio.

The Grammar in Use range also has books for elementary and advanced learners:
- This book is for ELEMENTARY (A1, A2) learners.
- This book is for ADVANCED (C1, C2) learners.

- This book is great for both teachers and learners. It has a dictionary-style layout.

- This book is intended for teachers, but it is also a great resource for learners. The tenses are explained so clearly, and she includes a review of common learner errors for each tense!

- There are books for elementary, pre-intermediate and intermediate, upper-intermediate, and advanced. Each unit has a page of clear explanations and a page of exercises. You can check your answers with the key in the back of the back. As well as numerous vocabulary topics, these books also cover aspects of grammar and style.

- Collocations are an important part of English fluency. They are combinations of words that often appear together. Learning them is essential if you are studying for exams such as the Cambridge FCE or CAE, or IELTS. This book is for INTERMEDIATE (B1, B2) learners.
- Examples of collocations: ‘throw a party’, not ‘make a party’; ‘deeply offended’, not ‘highly offended’; ‘strong interest’, not ‘heavy interest’; ‘close relative’, not ‘near relative’.

- Both INTERMEDIATE and ELEMENTARY are available!

It's mentioned in my book. In which tense this sentence is? Because here we use the word "is" with the past form of verb. Isn't the word is use for present continues tense where we use the first form of verb?
Kindly help me to find out the answer!

Hello, Emma. How are you doing?

I made a short story using 'by chance'.

The attractive handsome guy sometimes has glanced and smiled at me during the training for the new employees. So I thought he was interested in me.
I finally approached him and tried talking to him earlier. But he didn't recognize me at all and I was shocked. I realized that all of his actions, which I thought wrong, happened by chance, not his interest.
He dashed my hopes. (So much for fantastic romance!)

May I ask a question?
As far as I know, when you expect something, but it ended up failing, British say 'dash one's hopes' whereas Americans say 'so much for something'.
I can understand the British style, but not American style. 'So much for something' is too short to convey its meaning exactly.
So, I'm wondering its complete sentence or the reason Americans say like that.
I've ever tried to guess like this.
For example, if I say "so much for getting off work on time", its full sentence might be like these below.
1. I must've hoped so much for getting off work on time.
2. I guess I hoped so much for
3. I expected so much for
4. I had so much expectation for
If not, what expression is the full sentence of it?
🌻🍒🌺🌻💓

“On accident” is like fingernails on a chalkboard for me. Right up there with “expresso”.

While I was entering the class, I dropped my cap into the rubbish bin by accident which I didn't notice After an hour or so, I began looking for my cap, asking schoolchildren whereabouts of it and one of them told me that it was lying in the rubbish bin. I started questioning and accusing them for it. As it turned out I dropped it into the rubbish bin by accident.
