How I catch MASSIVE lobster

A lot of you are probably wondering how to catch large lobsters. In this video I go over why we want a certain size of lobsters, how we catch huge lobsters, and our plan to catch a world record sized lobster! We spent the day pulling up 400 lobster traps and while doing so we caught a couple massive lobsters! It's always fun seeing these huge beasts, but unfortunately they are too large to legally keep.

If you do the large lobster thing, make sure to get a scale to weigh them. I look forward to seeing this project! You could do an online competition for your subscribers where we guess the measurement of what the largest will be. You could make it very precise by having to guess the exact weight and length from claw to tail, which means there will be many different answers. I don't think you'd even have to give a prize...just bragging rights for being correct!

Many years ago, in a museum in Maine, I saw a photo of two gigantic lobsters caught by a trawler. Each lobster must have weighed between 40 and 50 pounds. They had propped them up against a fence and someone placed their little daughter between them. The claws on these lobsters were enormous. The photo was dated 1907 and I wonder if lobster still get that big. 😮
