On July 31, 1943, the infantry company of which Pvt. Young was a member, was ordered to make a limited withdrawal from the battle line in order to adjust the battalion's position for the night. At this time, Pvt. Young's platoon was engaged with the enemy in a dense jungle where observation was very limited. The platoon suddenly was pinned down by intense fire from a Japanese machinegun concealed on higher ground only 75 yards away. The initial burst wounded Pvt. Young. As the platoon started to obey the order to withdraw, Pvt. Young called out that he could see the enemy emplacement, whereupon he started creeping toward it. Another burst from the machinegun wounded him the second time. Despite the wounds, he continued his heroic advance, attracting enemy fire and answering with rifle fire. When he was close enough to his objective, he began throwing handgrenades, and while doing so was hit again and killed. Pvt. Young's bold action in closing with this Japanese pillbox and thus diverting its fire, permitted his platoon to disengage itself, without loss, and was responsible for several enemy casualties.[6]

I loved the movie, it was my first exposure to the world and honestly as cheesey as they were I loved the sequels. And the book was a treat on it's own.

Now the animations and the recent games, feels good to see the old franchise getting love.

That last bit about History and Moral Philosophy made me immediately go "yup, they read the book"

After all, another bit from the book did state: "you can bomb it, burn it, gas it, or turn it to glass. But you don't own it unless your troops are on it, and the other guy's aren't." I know I most likely messed it up, but.... The spirit of the line is still there

It's damn clever having the landing boats craned out of the outside hull BEFORE starting it's engines to leave. I'd still have a separate landing capable hanger on the other end of the ship so once recovered and refueled it can go down a conveyor to enter the loading area.

1. Not washing flames and heat inside means no danger of injuring personnel. This means the ability to continuously load and unload personnel.
2. Since no heat or flames were inside the ship, no extra oxygen gets burned up that could've been used for, oh I don't know, like breathing! Lol

Not going to lie, when I saw that the Templin Institute released a document regarding the Rodger Young class Corvette, my first though was of those brave individuals who served the Greater Terran Union during the Algan Wars, the Faraxian Wars, the Rixian Wars and the Skiron Campaigns. Glory to the GTU.

It would be interesting to see how the tech would appear if it were more in line with the book. The original Starship Troopers book used small and efficient squads of troopers in mechanized battle armor that were more like Elementals. It made much more sense than transporting millions of soldiers across the galaxy without even full suits and breathing gear to Zapp Branigan the enemy.

Bugs: Wait till Human starships cluster up for assault landing to launch plasma bombs at them..

Humans: Find where bugs cluster to deploy nuclear bombs…

Both: Sending in waves of Drones to eradicate the other..
