Best Thermal Paste? 5 Tested!

Since my last video on Lenovo Legion 5 Pro and Alphacool pads and paste I received a lot of questions about which thermal paste to use and how Honeywell is special/best one. I did have my theory and it turned out true... Also I could not stop myself testing them for myself and also to share with you guys. Hope it helps.

Cheers

but main point is for how long all these products keep the viscosity and keep from drying

I have a laptop and after many paste tests I would recommend Kooling Monster KOLD-01 and Aerocool FUZION. Also some of the very good initial performing pastes can dry up quite fast like the Thermalright TFX.

hi, i read that the HONEYWELL thermal paste needs several hours of curing time(24hrs) to allow for the solvent to evaporate?? did you follow these instructions in your test?

came here cause I got the apex.
can't decide if I should thermal paste or liquid metal for 7900 xtx, cause as igor showed, 7900 xtx might have large surface deltas, which significantly can increase LM spill all over my GPU pcb even at minimalist application.

Actic has released the new MX-6. Viscosity seems better than mx-4. The thermal conductivity seems to be lower, but with 2 3 degrees that stood out in the tests.
I ordered it, I'll try it on legion 5 pro and let's see what the result is.

I was curious before and tried the 13w/mk Halnziye P13. After a fluidity like the MX4. But since Legion 5 pro had a block pressure problem, pumpout was happening after a while. When I first put it on, it went for 2-3 months, then when I renewed it, it hardly lasted for 1 month. At the moment it never goes below 100 degrees in cinebench. When I renewed 1 month ago, it did not exceed 85 degrees :D

It's nice when idle. Temperature at 45 degrees. but it gets worse at peak values And the cooler blows cool not hot. It is clear that he could not make the hot transfer to the block.

If the MX6 doesn't help, I'll try liquid metal from now on.

hello. I am using a Legion 16ach 3060(5800H) product.
I'm using the Ryzen controller to catch the cpu temperature, but the gpu temperature is measured high, so I think I need to reapply the thermal, so I came across a video while I was looking for what kind of thermal to buy, so I leave a comment like this.
In domestic cafes, the ptm7950 thermal used in laptops is better than other thermals, so it is recommended to use it without re-applying it. I wonder if the temperature will be controlled even if I purchase ptm7950 and reapply it, or how about attaching a graphite pad.

What is the best one for laptop, using msi rtx3060 and i5 10500h

You can test ones Dow Corning 340 its quite cheap and they say its just 0.67 but would be interessting. Is used in aviation so it should work with temps from minus 60°C to plus 200 without a problem day in day out.

Thank you very much! I choose Sub Zero thermal paste while I was buying pump, reservoir and others by Alphacool. Maybe Apex was better, but I'm happy Sub Zero if considered a good one. Thank for this video!

The Arctic and Thermal Grizzly thermal conductivity can be found with a 2 second google search. They're not a secret. Its 8.5 for the Arctic and 12.5 for Thermal Grizzly

I like the idea of the Honeywell as a pad sort of replacement; or I’d just get putty to cover the vrms and such. But yea the Apex is a legit replacement for what’s stock. Honestly, it looks like some ppl should just work via software to manage their heat from a stock solution. It isn’t terrible but if you just want to push cooling as much as possible putting on new page isn’t a bad idea.

Also a lot of ppl mistake “dried paste” sometimes with the stock paste as bad when it’s just a phase change substance.

Thanks for sharing!

Good test but I really would of liked to see how some liquid metal stacked up here. Like themral grizzly Conductonaut.

does homey know how to read charts? it's apparent that 2 or 3 others beat grizzly on individual tests and you claim TG winner. wowo.

PTM is more interesting in its pad form.

😆😆 @ honeywell nothing special. btw, hw7950 is PCM, phase change material. interesting how the paste seems to be the same as the PCM. I had to do my steam deck 3 times because I thought I f'ed something up and the first two times I just used my thumb to roll it off the die and alcohol to get the leftover which wasn't much.
