Washington Gun Law President, William Kirk, discusses a potential answer to one of the most common questions currently being asked, which is "what the hell is taking Judge Benitez so long?" Perhaps he has been waiting for the rulings on Rupp v. Bonta before issuing his ruling in the matter of Miller v. Bonta. That case, which is also a challenge to California's assault weapon ban, is now being revived as a motion for summary judgment is set to be argued now on July 28th. Learn what all of this means to you and arm yourself with education today.

I have as much faith in a judge upholding our rights as i do a politician- which is zero.

The court will hear the case on July 28th and give its decision in September of 2080.

The Constitution does not ENTITLE/GRANT the right to keep & bear arms. Rather it commands the government to NOT infringe this fundamental right. A right that existed prior to the drafting/ratification of the constitution

Those elected officials attempting civilian disarmament are dangerous and unusual.

Just one problem. We are in a post constitutional and post truth America.

"What's left of your second amendment rights..." I remember getting a chuckle out of that the first time I heard it, now it's just a bitter reminder that this phrase is completely true.

You know what I can't wait for? I can't wait for all of this to be settled and we can actually start addressing the real cause of violence in this country of ours. As THE pro-2A community we should be prepared to shift gears once we come out ahead.

The fact that the prohibition list is so long demonstrates that the weapons are common.

I have ZERO faith in this coming to fruition

One does not need a law degree to know that all these gun bans are unconstitutional. Thanks for this update. Why these judges have such a hard time decisiding whether or gun bans are unconstitutional! Any of us can guess the problem is.

I'm guessing he's waiting for his payment before he rules. Thats the amount of trust I have in our judicial system today

It is comforting to have someone of your caliber explaining what is taking place in the courts. You are a joy to watch and listen to. Keep up the great work.

The legal system is never quick but this stuff makes it look like intentional slow walking.

The only thing that the State can argue is based on "interest balancing", which is not allowed.

I agree, that Judge Benitez is probably waiting to see how Rupp goes.

I REALLY hate legalese B.S., and that honest people have to wait for all the B.S. to be argued around in circles instead of just admitting in plain language that this rule is total B.S.!

Judge Benitez has two other case that were heard and we are waiting for a decision! What could possibly be taking this long for that decision. You are not going to get a ruling from the judge in a timely fashion!

Thanks Bill!! Is this a ray of light? A ray of hope? I sure hope so. I wish Judge Benitez would just quit waiting on this and that and rule. He’s shot these bans down once already why oh why is he waiting to rule again???
