Danger...
This is a very dangerous video.
When you see a CAPACITOR... be very very careful.

I just got a new motor and it was running fine yesterday before this happened. Is there a reason why this would happen to a brand new pump motor?

Great video :) I’m a first time pool owner and this video was very easy to follow and do the work myself. I’m sure it saved me a good amount of money. Cost me $40 at Leslies. We have a freeze coming in tonight so this was perfect timing to see this video.

Thanks. I think this just happened to me. I had a hunch that the big hump was where the capacitor was. I just hope my pool place is open tomorrow.

On 8/18/24, this video saved me a ton of money. The fix took 5 minutes and the part was $14 on Amazon. I’m guessing the pool company would have told me I need a new pump.

Great instructional video ! I think my capacitor is busted but I am nervous about messing around back there.

I changed the capacitor but still humming. I quickly turn with a screwdriver and the pump starts and runs fine. Once it turns off and the trimmer kicks it back on, humming again. I put the pump in July 2022. Any ideas why?

I am going to try this tomorrow after a pool tech came out and said I need a new pump for $2000. My current capacitor has 3 connectors going in it RED, BLUE, GREEN. I will buy another brand capacitor cos in Australia it's hard to find the same one. Do the 3 connector needs to plug into any specific slots on the new capacitor? Or can they go anywhere? Thanks heaps dude, much love from Australia

Hi Rich! Thank you so much for your video. You included several great details, and when I had a few questions for my situation, like how to remove it (quick tug) and what #s on the label were important when ordering a new capacitor, it felt like you were the Dad over my shoulder. I hope to learn more from your other videos as I need them ( or hopefully don't need them? 🙂) P.S. And your in Texas, my dad was an Aggie!

Mine is barely been on a week, but when it cuts off right at shutoff it makes a kind of a whining sound for just cpl seconds, is this normal?

Lately my pump is buzzing for about 10-15 seconds then starts. This morning it kept buzzing and eventually stopped. I noticed the motor is very hot and the stickers are melting on the outside. I turned the unit off for a few minutes and plugged it back in. More buzzing so I bagged it a little and it started running again. Capacitor issue? When it runs it is quiet and very strong.
Thanks
