This is not a version, this is the original as she wrote the lyrics of the song.
More precisely she wrote it in italian then co-wrote this english version.
I will post more details in another comment.

Lara is just one of the best performers in the world. She has been Dimash's inspiration and role model since he was a teenager. Keep doing Lara Fabian reactions, you will never be disappointed, unless you don't like this kind of music...

This is BY FAR the best version of this song. And that includes the studio version. She’s just incredible. Please react to Broken Vow, You’re not from here, Caruso, Je Suis Malade Next from the same concert. All masterpieces

Dimash performed this song at a competition and had to show his vocal abilities. Lara sang it at her concert and passed it through her heart, singing it as she understood it. This is her song, ORIGINAL!

99% of Lara’s performances are near perfection. Her language skills and song writing talents are of genius levels. Can’t go wrong with a Lara song!

This is a masterpiece, like "Je Suis Malade " which I recommend you see. No one in the world can or has ever sung this song better.

It's her song... Lara is known for her vocal technique. She's also known as "The Ring". This performance was from 1999/2000. She's still singing/writing/producing btw... She's doing a world tour 2024-2025. If you'll have the chance to see her live...you won't regret it. I have been following this amazing woman for almost 25 years and she never disappoints. Greets from Belgium ❤

Ok Dimash made several covers.
Gabriel Henrique did cover her Love by Grace.
All filipinos covered her Broken Vow (Morissette Amon, Gigi de Lana, Katrina Velarde, Almira from 4th impact, Regine Velasquez, Sarah Geronimo, Julie Anne San Jose, …).
So did Cakra Khan, Rimar, Jackie Evancho, Craig Harrison, …

Floor Jansen covered Adagio, Forestella covered Je suis malade,
Diana Ankudinova covered Tomorrow is a lie.
Polina Gagarina covered Adagio and Je t’aime.

She had covers made in The Voice or singing contests all around the world (China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Russia, Turkey, Armenia, Greece, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway, UK, Africa, Brazil, …)

She is the most influential singer you never heard of 😂

Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly".
This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonata, concerto or symphony that is using that specific pace.

The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and gave his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself.

The classic music piece is globally famous and there were many different translations into different songs, with different music compositions, mostly operatic, and different lyrics (the band Renaissance, Daniele Licari, Sarah Brightman and Sissel Kyrkjebo for instance).

But the most famous version, by far, is Lara’s version:
it was translated into a pop song for her, she wrote lyrics in italian then co-wrote the english lyrics for it and is the original performer of these 2 versions.
She kept the title Adagio and wrote a story with a double meaning: a woman that is awaiting to find her love / an artist that is awaiting the god of inspiration.

This song has become a classic and has been covered by many : Shirley Bassey (!!), Dimash (Lara is his absolute idol and he covered several of her songs), Floor Jansen, Polina Gagarina, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Julie Anne San Jose, Giulia Falcone, Laura Bretan, Il Divo, Rimar, Vitas, Anastasia Luna, Evgenia Fanfara, , …
They made great covers but none of these match the amazing storytelling performance of Lara, or her ability to use vocal subtleties to be in sync with the music, exposed in her live from the concert From Lara with Love.

Her italian version is also amazing. A famous italian version:
Or you can check her recent excellent renditions:

I’ve never watched a Dimash performance more than once or twice. I’ve watched Lara’s performances dozens and dozens of times. He is impressive but he doesn’t move me. Lara on the other hand drags me along with her, through the highs and lows whether I like it or not. She is everything

Of course it's the best version ever. She is the original singer after all, and also one of the best female singers of all times. The copies are left in the dust.

You said something about how it fit her voice, and there's a reason why you feel that. This song came from her very soul, her DNA. It's a love song to the god of inspiration, as Adagio, begging him to never abandon her. It speaks to the unexplainable connection to wherever songwriting comes from, and the fear of losing that. It lives under her skin and she'll always be waiting at "the piano that plays". This is how important being a songwriter is to her. She calls herself a "songwriter with a voice". So of course, any song that deeply personal is going to fit the original voice like a glove. This is why, for me, no cover sounds nearly as good, and it's not about anyone's talent, it's about where it comes from. Welcome to the Lara rabbit hole! Luckily for both her and us, she hasn't been abandoned yet and is still writing beautiful songs. She's so good she's managed to escape the dreaded curse of everything starting to sound the same. She's an extraordinary full package performer! She doesn't just sing you a song, she becomes it.

She is 54 now and stil sings ... But stil has a lot of power in her voice and the same story telling. GOAT in this. She mesmerises with her fillings and persuation. And that's what Dimash has to learn from her (of course is easier for her as it is her fluently speaking language). I love them both alike. Lara as warm preacher, Dimash with his beautiful voice tone and alien abilities.

She’s a powerhouse, but her low notes are like a hot knife in butter. She’s a masterclass for many singers, every song she sings is like a little movie ….Simply the best….

Lara Fabián is one of the best voices in the world. If she were American and not European, she would be known all over the world. I encourage you to listen to much more of her work.
