They are heavy engines. A build cast iron 350 is close in weight

2jz is so impressive for being over engineered when it started as a straight 6 diesel engine with a closed bottom deck. This is why you can do 800-1, 000hp on stock internals bcuz there built for super high compression due to it staying with they same just new heads and used the turbos that would be on it for diesel but 325 with the 2jz or no turbo or a single turbo on the 1jz there are a lot of other engines that’ll do this but not as popular but done diesel to gas but I’m sure not all were kept the same internals and bottom end especially the closed deck or bottom end so its rods and piston were made for diesels they thick as hell bcuz we in the us don’t have all the same models they made a nice V8 and in the 90s they also produced a V12 that’s also solid as hell they applied this technique to those as well

Honestly I think the 2nd is over hyped
Like you can make any engine make that much they have a cast block
A v8 with a cast block can make 4000 horsepower

4000 horsepower is just 300 to 400 short of what modern diesel-electric locomotives like the ET44AC and SD70ACe produce.

You can put that much money into anything and make it whatever you want it to be. Fast, loud, bullet proof, pretty, you name it. The only thing special about the 2js, SRs, RBs etc be the names

I like toyotas 1 and 3UZFE better stock performance and I'm not much of a boost fan I like to string out high rpms, and the 2JZ is way to heavy to be good up near 9-10k on any reasonable budget

And the Miata practically doesn’t weight anything so power to weight ratio is insane.
