Watch stuff and learn and chill hi whatsup ⚔️👋🧐

Hi everyone! I'm an American from the Northeast (New England). I want to create a watering hole for people who want to discuss, learn and teach about history through YouTube videos which you guys recommend to me through the comment section or over on Discord. Let's be respectful but, just as importantly, not be afraid to question any and everything about historical records in order to give us the most accurate representation of the history of our species and of our planet!

France is certainly one of the most geographically and culturally diverse countries in Europe. There are huge differences in cuisine, lifestyle, architecture, dialect/language, landscape and flora, especially between the far north and the far south. When you compare Artois or Brittany with Provence or the Languedoc, it's hard to imagine that they are part of the same country.

Btw, you might want to check out Portugal. I think it's massively underrated.

As a french living abroad for business purpose, i felt so much nostalgia while watching your video. I can’t wait to come back home. It’s great to visit the world, especially as a young man, but damn… there is simply no place like home :’)

As an american this guy is probably the most educated and hstorically and geographically provided i’ve ever seen. It’s completely mindblowing to hear an american telling such precise facts abt France and Europe in general. I might be wrong but as a french i often see on ytb and IG american ppl not knowing history basis abt their own country and of course the rest of the world

Chambord at 13:28 was built by Francis I. He employed Leonardo da Vinci as an architect, and a lot of the castle was designed by da Vinci, including the famous double spiral staircase. The castle is huge. It has over 400 rooms.

The caves with the prehistoric paintings are around Lascaux.

As a French, thank for the sympathy you have all along. If you come visite Mnt Saint Michel, you Need to visit also "St Malo", the very close Fortified seaside city who was known as "the capital of corsars". The bay is full of small forts and some are not open to public cause of the old WW2 mines still on the spot. The place should have been in this Top 25 at my opinion.

I'm from northern France, when you talk about the things that were destroyed during WWI I thought about the "Chateau de Coucy". It hosted the tallest dungeon of Europe and was destroyed by the germans when they retreated from the region because it was a formidable observation point.
The dungeon itself and the four main towers were destroyed. By chance, we have some photos and paintings from before WWI.

I have visited many countries in the world. France is the most beautiful country in the world. it comes from its position on the planet. between the mediterranean and the atlantic and the mountains bordering its borders there are micro-climates on a restricted surface which mean that in a few kilometers everything changes. the landscapes, the vegetation, the architectural style, the food....etc...there is nothing else comparable in the world...🤔🤔🤔

I'am French and I have personally visited many regions, thanks to my parents.
And I think our heritage is exceptional.
Paris being the most insignificant part ;)

Thanks for my country.

PS/ Sorry for my bad language

Others have mentioned this and I agree: [mainland] France is a very diverse country, especially considering it's size. And it's not only the landscapes. Architecturally too, as in its regional architecture. There are towns in Brittany (country's northwest) that look nothing like towns in Alsace (the northeast), which look nothing like towns in Provence and the French Riviera (the southeast), which look nothing like the Basque Country (the southwestern corner), which look nothing like the towns in Ile de Re and around La Rochelle (the west), which look nothing like towns in Savoy or the French Alps area (the east), which look nothing like the towns in French Flanders and Artois (the north). And very roughly speaking, the northern half or third of the country has distinctively high-pitched roofs covered either in slate, pantiles or clay flat tiles like you find throughout northern Europe and the southern half or so of the country has distinctively low-pitched roofs covered in terra cotta barrel tiles like you can find throughout southern Europe.

9:29 - i'm from Reims... so the cathedral notre dame de Reims was bombe, and rebuilt as it was, as a souvenir a canon ball has been used on the fronton
13:33 - no Versaille is very close from Paris, les chateaux de la loire are quite older, Chambor is mostly François 1er favorit castle (court moved a lot back then)
25:38 - Lascaut in the south ouest
29:10 - about the sheep, the grass they eat in salty making the meat already salty ^^ so when you're going try to have du présalé ^^

The cave you’re looking for is the cave of Lascaux, located in the south west of France where one of the oldest prehistoric wall drawings.
And you’re totally right France is the biggest country in Europe and there’s so much to see. Every region has its own landscape and beautiful locations to visit.

I'm glad to be born in France, my country has such a diversity of landscape, there are so many things to see and places to visite, I've seen most of the places seen in this video and it's true they are fantastics but trust me there are many more...can't name them all!
Oh yeah, The prehistoric cave you ask about is "Lascaux" and near it there is a very beautiful place called "vallon pont d'arc" you have to see 😉
