My daughter is a legal concealed carry person. Her fiancé a local LEO. They have a young child in their home, so their guns are locked away. Last night I admitted my daughter to a local hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. I took her after 4 separate attempts to take her own life..She left the house during the night with a 9mm in her car, leaving behind her phone, purse and other ID. Her fiancé found her in a rural local parking lot, and she surrendered her gun peacefully and asked for help. Upon exiting the vehicle at home she attempted to bolt into oncoming traffic..Then made 2 more attempts to take her life once back inside her home. This is NOT my child…She has, due to grief, stress and life changing events become so angry at everyone! She had taken her nighttime medicine and should have not have even been driving. I saw the other side of my child I have never seen in her 39 years. I know I made the right decision to take her to the hospital…She could have taken her own, or even someone else’s life! Family members can often prevent such tragedies by stepping up when their loved ones are acting erratically. They don’t have to be wielding a firearm to be dangerous! Any changes from their usual personality can signify a danger..Don’t be afraid to ask for help, even from law enforcement..They can take any unstable person to any a psychiatric hospital or ward for a 72 hour hold. 💙
