It's been 3 or 4 years since I played this game, so I had to look up about the story again, and the key detail can be seen once you get all 15 relics (SPOILER)

If you collect all the relics, after the credits you get 1 more scene. The girl is seen coming out of the room and walking through the hallway where she picks up the cat at the end Chapter V, a guard walks past her and behind him there's a boy with orange hair.

So, we can safely say the cat represents the boy during the whole game. I personally think we experience the girl's grief and she's trying to prevent his death (that's why we hear a gunshot when the cat transforms in that kind of "spirit") even if it's only inside her head. Of course, she can't stop it and no matter what she tries, it all ends the same way. And after she wakes up, it's pain all over again because she's trapped in who knows where. Maybe she does have powers, maybe she doesn't. The backstory is more open to interpretation and that can vary depending how you personally read the symbols that appear on the bridge between each chapter.



I like the game quite a bunch, the puzzles and the music are great. Maybe the story is the weaker end of the link but it works for the people that like to find their own meaning. I'm glad you enjoyed it overall! Thank you so much for playing it

Another one for the completed playlist, nice! Thanks for the comfy stream, though the ending did hit like a truck . Surely out of the 14, 000, 605 timelines out there, there’s at least one where all turns out well for our girl and her feline companion. Time works in mysterious ways, that’s for sure. The cat's name is Mule, because all he does is carry.
This game's ending was sad even if it was a little heavy-handed about the theme being "acceptance" and "moving on." I think it could've gone without that twist at the very end.
