Greetings Thoughtful Travelers! Welcome to today’s thought for August 3rd!

It’s by Walter Kirn, an American novelist and literature professor. He was born in 1962.

“Journeys are fundamentally the same: they begin in the mind, with the image or the story that inspires them in the first place, and finish in the world.”

So what are your thoughts on today’s quote? Here’s mine.

“That’s right. First we get the idea we would like to visit a certain place. Maybe it’s a place we’ve dreamed of visiting since we were little kids, or maybe we just saw an advertisement to a destination we can afford to visit. In either case, it has captured our attention, and sooner or later we decide to act upon it. The culmination is the actual trip we take there. Now we’ve gone from fantasy to reality. And, hopefully, that’s a happy transition. Actually, even when we return home, the journey stays with us as memories, souvenirs, and credit card bills.”

Now…here’s the list of all the sources quoted in August. I hope you’ll stop by each day to enjoy all the interesting and insightful things they have to say. Thanks, and see you tomorrow!
