What's weirder to me is how the mom gets jealous of the little girl wating to be with Jo, but instead of suddenly wanting to play with her daughter she tries to make her go back to watching TV, almost like the problem isn't that her daughter prefer Supernany over her own mother, but that the daughter is getting any attention AT ALL.

This reminded me of my mom. I was starved for attention and just wanted her to sit with me and play. But I always got met with “not right now” she would send me outside or set me in front of the tv. I had the best imagination because I was often alone. Over time I just stopped asking and I’m sure my mother was finally relieved that I left alone. And never realized I just got tired of being rejected. Why have children if you aren’t going to play with them? They only get ONE childhood. And playing isn’t rocket science. Now that I’m a mother I refuse to let my daughter feel how I felt growing up. So I do the one thing I wished my mother did all those years ago and I sit and I play with her when she asks.

I love that even though Supernanny didn’t agree with the mom asking the daughter to watch tv, she still didn’t undermine the mother. She still encouraged the daughter to listen to her mother. If she had told the daughter that she could stay, it could have affected their progress because the daughter would feel that she didn’t need to listen to her mother in the future. Props to her
