I did the same thing too but back when they added helicopters. I was surprised no one thought of it before. My buddy would ping light vehicles, and I would shoot.
I just had a ruler I would put on my screen and have a calculator on hand to convert the irl cm's to ingame meters.
Then I would just adjust the artillery accordingly. Usually some big HE cannon I would be lobbing.
