Fun fact: mark twain (an author) lived here and the comstock lode was found here, which was a massive silver deposit, so Virginia city has a lot of mine tours you can go on

WARNING: ⚠️ Not updated pictures. Used to go for Easter as a kid. It’s an old mining town. Unfortunately the whole town is now plastered in confederate/trump flags. Not historically accurate to the town’s history. They used to have old west shoot out shows, now they do Civil War reenactments. Very unwelcoming. There’s video of business owners assaulting and threatening a black man with a hanging tree. Local sheriff (literally wears a noose pin) did nothing until the AG stepped in. Go literally anywhere else… 😢
