Neil Young & Promise of the Real performs "Heart of Gold" at Farm Aid 2018 at XFINITY Theatre in Hartford, Connecticut, on September 22.

Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

I was at this show. The line up featured some great, great talent. But when Neil opened (with “Tell Me Why”), the others sounded like amateurs in comparison. This is not a knock on the other fine performers. It is instead a testimony to what a towering giant Neil Young is. I spoke to many total strangers. They were breathless, blown away by Neil’s set.

First time I heard this tune we were a carload of kids pulling up to the local pond to play some ice hockey when it came on the radio. Nobody got out until the song finished. It's nearly 50 years & 50 Neil Young bootlegs later.
