Are you team North Face or Canada Goose?
See how I scare kids at my local park with my Canada Goose:

I don't know if its a good comparison since those two coats are not in the same class or level of warmth. The comparable to the Canada Goose is the North Face McMurdo, Expedition McMurdo or the Trans-Antarctica Expedition. I would say the Expedition McMurdo is the best comparable jacket to the Canada Goose.

I purchased a The North Face Mcmurdo parka for $225 last winter, and happily (and warmly) sported it, even through the polar vortex. I have no doubt that Canada Goose is the better jacket(if only barely), but I just can't justify paying 5x the price to be ten percent warmer. Full stop.

I’ve been North Face customer for over 30 years. 👍

I have had a North Face jacket for more than 6 years, and it cost me around 300 dollars in a 50% sale on the official site. It rain and windproof, has a better down than most canada goose jackets and is very stylish. Its a hybrid between a Parka and a Bomber. Take care :-)

I’m from Montreal. I’ve tried Columbia, Pajar, fjallraven and my current jacket is a Canada gooses. Here’s the catch there are different types of cold and the type of jacket you get will perform differently in those climates. Montreal is a humid cold, Edmonton is a dry cold. I find synthetic ( my fjallravel and Columbia) did not last as long and after a few years I needed to switch them out. I had the pajar for 6 years I got it on sale for 400 cad and it was fine until last year when I found I was getting cold in weather I usually am fine with. I do layer because indoors are usually 22c degrees and I find a sweater are always needed. Currently I have a Canada goose it’s over kill. I get hot walking in anything warmer than -8. But I like the length and on the really cold days it’s amazing. Another thing you should factor in is cost of replacing it. Canada goose has a life time limited warranty and if you go to their store they will ship it out and dry clean it and do minor repairs on it at the same time for 40cad. I don’t know any other jacket company that does that. And these days I’m more in to quality and buying less then having to replace my jacket every 3 years. I expect this jacket to last me at least 10 years based on my mom still having here’s for 9 years at the moment and it being still perfectly fine.

For $1500, the Triple F.A.T. Goose Chenega II down jacket at $700 destroys the Canada Goose. Has more down at 700 fill power and has more down at 85% down 15% feather. Also has a smaller sleeve opening with storm cuffs and a much snugger fit in a size S for warmth and also has draw cord adjusters on the waist and hood. Can also remove the coyote fur or entire hood, plus also has the wire to shape it for the worst conditions. Has slightly less pockets but has much better value and fits better and more warm for less. I agree it's not worth the price and paying for the CG brand. Solid video bro.

I agree with you, the Canada goose coat is over kill for some places, it doesn’t justify for the price, unless you live in Alaska.

Remember if you need a major label on your product you could come with me in Kathmandu to my favorite lady's store where I bought several bright red canvas tote bags and she offered to put a major label stitched upon them. I chose The North Face so that I could have bragging rights for that major label on my tote bags. She had the templates for stitching the logos and names onto almost anything including coats and trousers and tote bags and backpacks--- her machine seemed to handle everything and her templates we're right on in every case

Damn I really appreciate the effort that you made on this video. I was gonna get the Canada goose but I ended up getting an Aritzia super buff. I’m curious what are your thoughts on that.

north face is not a budget brand to begin with, and they have the heritage and tech performance that other brands can only dream of

To be fair the Canada Goose jacket was engineered for extremely cold weather conditions. Therefore accomodating for several layers of insulation closer to the body. Fabric noise quickly drowns in 60 mph winds and functionality (survival) wins over style any day of the 6 months you're stuck in Antarctica.

Here in Minnesota we need as much protection as possible. Out in the country it can save your life when broke down in a car in February.

I think the Expedition looks great and has the kind of high-detail work that makes it worth the price, I just wish we got to see it in red, easily it's best color.
