In this video I unbox and give my initial review of the Vertx SOCP sling. I was excited about this product when it was announced, does it live up to the hype?

I have one. Vertx has said this wasn't designed to carry a pistol. I've set mine up to carry 1st Aid since I couldn't get my ankle rig to wear with consistent comfort. I fit an israeli bandage, quick clot, chest seal, and turniquet. I run the SOCP dagger in the back as well.

I bought the larger SOCP for myself and absolutely loved it. Besides the velcro phone holder, it is pretty great. I bought the smaller one for my wife and her CR920, and it wouldn't even fit that. The larger one will carry my MR920 at the correct angle, but the advertising is deceiving. If you want to carry a gun, wallet, keys, and maybe an LTC EDC Pocket Trauma Kit like I do, it is pretty thick. It'll do it but drawing while fully loaded isn't the smooth process shown on YouTube.

I bought one. It is definitely small... almost too small. I can fit an lcp 380 in it no problem, but like you said there is no dedicated mounting point. I think I might have figured out a way though, but nothing on this is designed for quick access gun holster. The large expandable pouch is meant to hold a full size pistol/ contraband retrieved in covert operation type situations. The knife feature is very nice touch and is very quickly accessible.

As much as it is smaller than I expected it is exactly the size I hoped it to be. I can't really imagine wearing a "sling" (fanny pack) much bigger than this. it makes it very useful for grab and go type scenarios. Cash clip, edc wallet, phone, knife, flashlight, and go. I can go for a run without it bouncing and slamming all over and easy access to check phone if I don't have my smart watch.

I very much realize this is purpose built, but I can definitely say that it is very useful from my use of it so far in ways not intended in the initial design. You know.... if you can get over wearing a fanny pack on your chest in public.

The p365 definitely fits in there comfortably. Understood it’s not “meant” to carry a pistol, but I can fit a p365 and a spare mag with no problem, and the zipper still provides quick access… for those that want to know

thank you for opening it up and exploring the inside. you could carry a gun chambered with a trigger guard holster. Holster has paracord that you could use to tie it down, pull the tool and holster releases.

I'm going to pick one of these up. Not to carry a firearm but to carry my medical supplies, wallet, phone, keys without having to have even more weight to my belt.

since this is a low profile surveillance "bag" I assume that the dump pouch is actually expandable to fit a DSLR with a small telephoto lens. I'll be getting my SOCP in about a week, I'll try with my canon rebel and 200mm lens.

Vertx now has a SOCP fanny/sling to hold a handgun. The phone pouch on both bags suck for the common EDC. The new bag has many improvements.

It will work with a Glock 42 but you need a mimimalist hoster that covers the trigger guard

I need one of these in the brown and black in my life. Can't find one now. I'm not sure why you're trying to fit your 365 in there. Nowhere does it say it's meant for that. But yet people just assume?

I have looked at numerous sellers and I have come to one conclusion and that is no online seller has stated that it is made for firearm ccdw it in only for the SOCP. Even on the VERTX site it doesn’t say anything about firearms. It is made for a specific clientele.

I'd never carry my gun in a bag easily removed from my body anyway, let alone the fumbling around and unzipping..etc. Looks pretty cool for other things I might get one.

Awesome review thank you . Was considering this for my Glock 43 but since your 365 didn’t fit in there this kind of answered my question guess unless I try a minimalist holster over the trigger.

for the dedicated slot for the SOCP dagger, is it left hand only or other?
Edit: Nevermind, you can fit a SOCP dagger in its sheath on both sides/ends of the bag (left and right). The only downside is that the sheath for SOCP is NOT tight like gerber ghostrike sheath, so with enough force, it could wiggle itself out of the sheath a bit. Unless you don't have a SOCP dagger + in sheath hanging from below.
