Vertx SOCP Sling & Fanny Pack Review

The evolution of tactical fanny packs is one I'm a big fan of. Vertx released the SOCP sling a few years ago and I was a big fan but I really wanted more room. When Vertx released the Fanny Pack I was really excited to get my hands on it. Here is a short video highlighting what I like and dislike about each.

Great Review! Those aren't ties inside the holster compartment. They are meant to hang outside of the zippered bag. You pull them with nondominant hand opening holster allowing you to draw with dominant hand. They are on either side depending on how you will draw your weapon....

Great review! Love that so many guys are excited about fanny packs. This one does check a lot of boxes for some of the features I have been looking for.

I had high hopes for this. I have been rockin an OG Blackhawk 5-5-10 fanny pack since 1996. I don't like the way the gun compartment is accessed. I would prefer it to fold completely open and be out of the way for the draw. I would also prefer it to be a little "looser" and more pliable. The last 2 things would be the positioning of the buckle it should be on one side instead of in the center of the back and the way to keep the straps secure they tend to work their way loose. I do like the internal organization the removable pocket, the side pocket they are the perfect size for some gloves. I also like the colors. Like I said I had high hopes, but it fell short

I have been running this bag with a P365X Macro for the last three months. It is a very solid bag that could be an amazing bag with a few tweaks. Hoping that VERTX continues to evolve the product. Great video as I have been looking at adding your system to this bag. Just ordered what I need.

I've been trying out a trigger-guard only holster (like the Eclipse, ClipDraw, etc) with the SOCP and I think it's working out pretty well. You don't necessarily even need to worry too much about flagging on the draw because the trigger is still covered by a kydex sheath until the firearm is clear of your arms/chest etc. I like the Alias mount but I'm not sure what all I need to get to make it work.

I’m still not carrying my pocket edc gear and gun in it only if I’m like at the beach pool or at home where I need to put my items in so the kids won’t be curious if it’s just layed up on the dresser. But I did buy that medkit you have in the back very smart idea and saves space for the pouches. Getting mine tomorrow hopefully it can fit my steam deck so when on the go I can have a smaller bag that isn’t huge when I’m bored even then it will mostly be carrying just medical stuff pens paper portable charger just things I’d need out if the family needs it. I’ll always stay on body carry. I’ll put a comment tomorrow to confirm if the deck fits in there or not so others can know. But yeah excited for this since it’s summer and we love to be outside

Great review that helped in my decision to purchase. Confirmed what I had hoped it would be. Thank you.

Great review this is something I’ve actually been looking into and it’s great that it will fit the alias mount for a holster as well.

"Girthier dude" you have no idea, lol. Hey, I think I met you at GunCon! I decided to start a channel. Haven't uploaded yet. Been looking at VERTX bag options and this really caught my eye, but they seem to not offer the Fanny Packs anymore. I'm guessing your "secret squirrel" was right and they're updating them right now. The smaller slings are available, but that off-body (on body sorta) carry angle is what has me interested, not as much for myself personally, but as a potential option for a lot of us in wheelchairs (I don't use my wheels much, so I carry 4-o'clock - wished I had my chair at GunCon though, I was blasted by the end).

I have the same Live The Creed EDC med kits. It is a perfect fit in the other compartment with my wallet next to it. It really balances the bag out.

Good review. I like that you are just talking and not trying to use big vernacular to sound Insta-google-tweet cool guy. Very cool.

@neomag On my running med fanny pack I either remove the zipper pull that I don’t use to open, or tuck the pull into the bag and close the other zipper flush to it. That way when I go to open it I don’t run the risk of grabbing both zipper pulls or grabbing the wrong one.

Especially in an urban environment, i don't understand the quick release for security reason as anyone can easily detach it on your back and so another person on your side or in front of you can just take the bag and run with it.

Good presentation but I'm disappointed the bag can't carry anything bigger than a micro 9.

Are guys bringing back more Alia’s hook and loop? Seems they have been out of stock for awhile. Been trying to email you to find out. Big fan of your product.

Hello I’ve recently subscribed to your channel after watching several of your shorts. I can’t wait to order a few things but I have a question about the hook and loop receiver. I have a EDC sling bag and the hook and loop receiver would be perfect for it but how do I attach it to the bag? If you can may you make a video explaining and showing how to do it. Please and thank you
