The Elephant's Garden

A film I made with elephants in it, and a bunch of other things too.

This was my third year film at RMIT University, Bachelor of Animation and Interactive Media, and the winner of Best Australian Film at MIAF 2014.

If I ever won the lottery, I would commission Felix to write and direct his own 10-episode series of cartoons. No strings attached, I just want to deove deeper into this beautiful mad man's mind.

The wilderness of your imagination is a dangerous place.  Great work as always.

What I absolutely love about this video is that while it looks like something absolutely random, you can see a certain logic in this world.

I love surrealism, especially in animation.

Now, I'm not saying that's the weirdest elephant based surreal ecosystem I've ever seen, but it definately ranks in the top 10.

No wonder has has won awards as an animator, he has a very interesting style and an amazing imagination. Dude, you need like your own show in Adult Swim or something.

I love how we constantly shift between the big and the small. How, things are so infinitely complex if you shift your perspective.
Yet, one thing is simple throughout, life is brutal and beautiful.

I love the style!

It reminds me of being a kid and not understanding everything fully.

Edit: Holy shit this comment got a lot of attention.
To clarify, I was referring the level of complexity of the world Felix Colgrave created in this animation and comparing it to how, as a child, it takes time to understand how the different aspects of our world are connected. For example, how the smallest insect or blade of grass impacts the world around it, and how many other organisms depend on that one insect or blade of grass.
Also, I did have a kinda messed up childhood for those wondering lol. While I wasn't high as a kid like some of you were suggesting, my biological father was often high or drunk off his ass. That and I watched the shit out of Adult Swim from age 3 and up, so watching trippy animations was a norm for me growing up.

Id love to see more of this place at night. It's so cool exploring a living place like this. In all of it's little coves and glades, undergrowths and canopies. I'm in love with places like this
