1. Native Americans lived here first
2. White people intentionally brought black people, with their own cultural identities and languages, to the United States as enslaved people
3. The United States took over literal Mexican territory, including locations where (surprise to no one) Mexicans lived
4. The United States overtook Alaska, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Hawaii, where various cultures and languages exist independently of white cultures
5. The United States, even through the 1900’s, refused to even recognize certain European groups as “white” or cohesive with the dominant culture, demonstrating that there was no cohesive European identity
