I just bought Chinese food. One of the two individually wrapped cookies didn't have a fortune inside. Say what you like, that never happened to me when Biden was in office.

My biggest issue with the Jubilee debate was that the debaters did not address your allegations. Instead they shifted to points that were off topic. It was weird.

That Jubilee video shows what happens when you defund public schools.

Wrong Sam! We should never stop talking about your Jubilee debate. It's a goldmine of political content.

This was a 10/10 video. A lot of my frustration with liberals has been grounded in their insistence on "defaults" that no longer exist. You can TELL a younger person that liberal democracy is best for them, but they see the wealth disparities and RAMPANT inequalities of the justice system, two things that liberalism presumes to address. It can't just be an implicit default, especially in the worldly internet age.

The trick about tolerance, is that you cannot be tolerant of the intolerant.

Kind of off-topic, but I'm happy Francesca left TYT. Screw TYT (and this is coming from a former TYT fan).

How do you argue with someone who thinks racism and xenophobia is good? This person has a messed up moral compass and if you can't argue from a moral standing, then how? It's seriously messed up, it's like arguing with a psychopath that having empathy is human.

Reconstruction failed when they reneged on the land grants given to former slaves.

To add to what Sam was saying about the failure of Reconstruction, after the Civil War, in South Carolina—the first state to secede—the majority of the state legislature was Black. When the election of 1876 became hotly contested (I recommend reading about it or watching Mr. Beat's video; it's very fascinating), and the results fell along party lines in a special congressional election vote against the Southern Democrats, the Union removed troops from the South to prevent a second Civil War. This marked the end of Reconstruction.

Without Northern troops, the South was able to mobilize and create a terrorist organization named the KKK to inflict fear, intimidation, and commit murder, driving the Black population to the North.

“You need to provide economic power.” Same issue in South Africa after the end of Apartheid. Political rights are important but without more fair economic distribution there are serious limitations.

"we're in a moment now where we do have to make a case for a multi-racial democracy" the fact that this is true is so depressing yikes on bikes

Conservatives continue to argue that economic equality is according to merit and hard work. Those who successfully 'make it' use themselves as examples that this American story is still alive and well, despite the statistics that suggest economic power is more and more a lottery determined by the family you are born to.

This was one of the most insightful things I’ve heard about the deep failure of the Dem’s “this is about democracy” bit. Sam crushes this point so well.

I have to disagree with Favreau's framing that we need to argue why "democracy is good, actually", for a different reason. That would fall under what The Alt-Right Playbook called "Control the Conversation". It would only validate their position as a valid one to consider, instead of the crazy fascist sh*t that it is. It moves the conversation further to the right, and legitimizes their awful ideas, which don't even deserve consideration.

IMO, Sam shouldn't even have argued with the white nationalist nor the religious fundamentalist in that debate. He should have straight up pointed out how they where validating his claim, that they are amongst the few who will benefit from Trump, and everyone else won't. He did do this at the end, but the rest of the conversation shouldn't even have been considered. It's a bad idea to let these people move the point of the conversation and present their ideas as "equally valid" or "two sides of an argument", when their ideas are so extreme.

The argument for democracy is as simple as not being an asshole to others.

However, I also agree with Sam here, that just defending "democracy" without defending an economy that works for everyone doesn't work.

Again, just my humble opinion.

Walmart Lauren Southern saying we need to embrace white christian xenophobic nationalism in front of several people of color who are on the same “side” as her will never stop being hilarious to me.

Progress is possible! Today I was able to educate my 69 year old Uncle, as we were watching a Doc about the Holocaust, that Hamas and the Palestnean people are two very different things. He let me explain that Israel has the same mindset as the N*zis and they're killing around 92% (most recent stat I knew) innocent women, children, and non-combatants.
He voted for Trump and is now pi$ed that the news isn't covering things for what they are. He's also a Vietnam veteran who was drafted and feels completely betrayed... again.
In one conversation I was able to take the blinders off of my dear Uncle and I didn't know where else to share it besides with the Majority Report clan.🎉🎉
