I remember hearing one of the apostles say that to be called as an apostle was a pledge that he would "wear out my life serving and testifying" of the Savior.

When the prophet said that we will witness the greatest miracles in the coming years, I see President Nielsen and president Holland as two of those. For a man of President Nelson's age to keep up on what he does is a true miracle. And for president Holland to so quickly recover and to be able to have the ability to walk and do what he does is a miracle also. I have watched both of my parents have stays about the length of his in a hospital. They have gone to rehab after and, still, never really regained the ability to walk. So the very fact that he is walking and moving how he does is a true miracle.

Being active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is a sacrifice, maybe not to the same extent, but the sacrifice is real. 😊

I used to work in the Administration building at BYU when Elder Holland ran it. He had his dream job and he loved running BYU and loved the students. He was always really nice when you saw him. Good guy. He cares about people.

Sister Carol Mcconkie told me that it is such a hard job! The travel is exhausting, they stay in members homes, not hotels and give numerous talks. It sounds exhausting

about 17 yrs ago elder holland spoke at our north-central california manteca stake conference. 3 things that stuck out & stayed with me
1) the story of the exchange with someone about living for the gospel
2) we donate 10% tithe, we can donate 10% of our lives to the gospel. average life span is 80 yrs (at the time) we can give full attention for 8 yrs
3) the modern conveniences we have are not to make our lives easier but to make chores & duties easier & quicker to focus on service & spreading the gospel

I needed this today! President Holland is an amazing example to me. He’s what a disciple of Christ looks like. He inspires me to step up my own pace. Sometimes it’s a lot harder to get up and “go and do”. Life is hard and then you die! That’s been my attitude. I don’t think that is what discipleship looks like. Sometimes it’s hard to remember to be grateful and joyful. The very act of doing is where we can find happiness.
