Laundry Room Makeover Part 1 | DIY Cozy Vintage Cottage Inspired Laundry Room in our 1910 Home
Показать описание
Hello and welcome to part 1 of our Laundry Room Makeover!
My husband Thanh and I live in a 114 year old house that lost its charm over the years. Our first room makeover we decided to tackle is the laundry room. The laundry room is small and we don't have it in our budget to make huge structural changes like removing walls but we are focusing on making it more functional by adding storage. I love vintage and antique decor/style and want to incorporate my secondhand finds in this cozy cottage style laundry room. Aside from decor I really wanted to focus on making the room more functional by adding space and storage where we can. In this video we will be changing out our modern hollow door for french doors, adding beadboard and trim to the walls as well as custom building our utility closet. I'll list all the items we purchased below.
For the door we bought a bifold door and converted it to a french door. We added some gorgeous antique backplates and door knobs that I am obsessed with. We used Saman stain in dark walnut 314 on the doors and it came out with a beautiful warm dark color. We added sash curtains to the doors and ball catch hardware to keep the doors closed since the door knobs were installed as dummy door knobs.
We also added beadboard and trim we purchased from Home Depot. The trim, baseboard and beadboard were all painted with Cotton Knit by Behr. We also added much needed shelving to the utility closet. The shelves were cut from plywood and the entire closet was also painted in the color cotton knit.
In part 2 we will be adding a countertop over the washer/dryer, applying the wallpaper and adding decor pieces like vent screens and switch plates. Since we are waiting for some items to get shipped in we will have a little break and next video I'll take you along for some shopping at estate sales hopefully we can find a light fixture to add to the laundry room!
Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoyed this video!
Sincerely, Michelle Nicole
