Had a JD Rider with a stamped deck for years. Welded mounting bracket on it twice, over the years. Bought an ariens ikon, zero turn, 52 inch. Will never go back to a rider. Love it.

I bought an ikon 52 in april this year (2023). I have used it commercually all year. Theres 324 hours on it and besjdes a couple nails and thorns blowing the tires. This thing has been incredible. I look forward to seeing how it holds up.

Appreciate your input. I just bought an XD Ikon 52 and have used it one time. I am impressed coming from a Cub Cadet zero turn. Surprisingly, it is much quieter and mows much nicer-really good lines. The deck is much more stable and the mower seems much more solid feeling. Appreciate your honest analysis of it.

Great Video. You answered a lot of the questions I had. Got a zoom 44 Ariens and it has been very dependable. These are even better. I like the mechanical parking brake. Some of the competition has electric actuated.

I live near where these are made and all companies are having issues with shortage of supplies and employees. I do hope that Ariens fixed the pulleys on the drive belt that don't line up.

I recently bought an IKON Select 42 to replace an older Gravely 34Z. They seem to have made some changes since the model in this video. They got rid of the separate parking brake lever and now the control levers activate the parking brake. As you mentioned I have already got on the machine and flip the levers in and then try to start the engine, which doesn't work. I am sure I will get used to that but it is a little annoying. I also don't have the dial setup for the deck height. Mine has a pin system with various holes for each height setting, which I like because it is very similar to my previous Gravely. That dial system seems like something that might start giving problems as the machine gets older.

I find it a little awkward getting on and off the mower and I may try the accessory entry assist handle but I need to try to find some more information about it since it is a little pricey and I'm not sure how useful it will be.

I almost bought the Deere z365r. Then, saw the ikon xd. Same price and no comparison. Mine is being delivered tomorrow!!

Good video- started looking at ZTs after a used lawn tractor I bought slipped its drive belt every single use this summer. Have an Ariens blower (love it) and really up in the air between the Icon and the Bad Boy Rambler. Would be a smaller deck, 42- but I'm sure with shortages I wont have to make a decision until spring regardless. Hand mowing sucks after using a tractor of any sort!

Purchased the XD 52inch 3 weeks ago. I have 17 Small to Medium sized properties that I Maintain and I have no Complaints after 37hrs on this mower.

That is 100% on the deere. If you don’t mind getting less for your dollar deere is the place to do it. Ariens is tough ti beat when it comes to what you are getting for your money.

Hello - what which would you suggest I have a steep back yard, I am considering the a new IKON XD 52" or a lighlty use commercial John Deer walk behind 48" with a Sulky... . about 25 yrs ago I worked for a commercial landscaper and we used Scag's and Button walk behinds so I have experience with them.... I think the walk behind would offer more control and be safer/easier on the steep hill...Your thoughts, how does the IKON XD handle the hill? I tried out my firends "traditional" Cub Cadet riding mower and just about tipped it on the hill, it definately struggled.
