Scientific misinformation is rampant on the internet and on social media. Some of this comes from problems with the methodology of science itself, some from monetary influence on scientific endeavors, and editorializing of scientific papers in secondary sources. In today's video I'm going to show you how to spot the most common types of scientific misinformation so that you can stay better informed.

I haven't watched the whole video yet, but I just wanna say how glad I am to see you looking so much healthier. I'm sure you're still recovering, but you look great dude. Been watching since Epic Dream, always tune in for your informative videos. Your perspective is always interesting to me.

Yay! Fake News 101! Still think talking about negativity bias and fearmongering would be a great episode.

"Everyone who drinks water dies". So therefore water is likely to cause death in humans.

Would love a philosophical driftor video or a social commentary type video or more health updates! Whatever you you make for content, I’m watching it, I love you videos and the way you think and deliver content and I could pretty much listen to you talk about almost anything lol also more weird food reviews would be fun too

Some other things to add to methodological issues: Lack of proper controls and improper use of statistics.

Hey driftor! This is off topic, but im a longtime fan and just wanted to give a big thank you. You introduced me to a game, paladins, and it changed my life for the better. Ive gotten a group of friends, a partner, new life plans and just generally gained a lot of happiness. Thank you for bringing that game to my attention, and for being yourself!

I hate scientific misinformation. As a chemist, seeing so much chemophobia due to it is so frustrating

Problem with studies are that the whole industry is brought out. Every angle is covered so that the common citizen who likes to dig thinks they are all legit.
Big example of this happened a couple years back alerting many that "trusting the science" blindly is not a wise decision.

Excellent review Drift0r. A reminder for everyone to approach new information with a questioning attitude.

Hi drift0r, loved the video! Very well done. Feels like a step up in production values.
I suggest you try filming standing up and/or switching locations (although the latter might be significantly more complictaed to implement)

The headlines are a really bad one. There's often very good science underneath, and with caveats and limitations that are worth further discussion and even further experimentation, but get swamped out by reporting trying to summarize it in a headline. Sometimes the results really are headline worthy but I find that rare.

these are the videos that a decade ago positively influenced my education. Leaning about stoicism an watching bo2 at 14 or some.

you should redo the nihilistic video about recycling again-how in attempt to recycle more emissions are made, have new methods been made?
or how attempting to end homelessness in the USA some how 60 billion go to contractors an the paper trail gets lost
