NOT Sinning Is NOT the Purpose of Your Life | Theocast

If you listen to many in the church today, you would think that the purpose of the Christian life is abstinence from sin. Is that really it? Jon and Justin talk about what we are called to in the Christian life. Because of what Jesus has done, because we have rest, because we have been filled, we now go and serve and love. What does it mean to live as an ambassador of the kingdom of Christ? Why is it that we should seek to be spent for the cause of Christ?

Semper Reformanda: Jon and Justin talk about getting up every day and continuing on in the fight. How do we do that? Then, the guys talk about sanctification--ways it has often been presented and what it is really about. It is a fun conversation, including a reference to an old hymn, “Stand Up for Jesus”!

Sin reminds us of our fleshly fallin nature and it also points us to our dependence on Jesus and trusting him to help us overcome it. But when God the father sees us he sees Christ and his holyness because of the blood....Praise God 🙏🏾

It is faith in Jesus Christ and the power of His resurrection that gives us the power to live holy. This is why it’s important to preach Jesus Christ and faith in Him alone as He is the Gospel, not pietism . Thank you for what you guys do. Faith in Jesus Christ freed me and continues to free me from my bondage to sexual addiction

Jesus wants us to be a slave to the Spirit not the flesh for many good reasons. Praise God He forgives repentant hearts, it keeps us humble, grateful and grows our love for such a gracious and loving God.

I heard an old sermon from my church on Hebrews 12:1-3 recently. Forsaking sin is part of the Christian life, but it's not the goal.

The goal of the Christian life could not be not sinning, since nobody can stop sinning, and furthermore Christ has atoned for our sin and completely satisfied for all sin. This logic is by no means an excuse for sinning, but a statement of fact.

i believe that works are not for justification sense but for the purpose of sanctification it is profitable.

The purpose of our lives in Christ is to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul and mind. As part of that, it will be our goal to sin not.

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of Man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil." (Eccl 12:13, 14)

I grew up in the sda. In 2020 I began to really get into the pietism movement with Doug Wilson. I realized one day how similar the movements really are.

No one can completely stop sinning, but there will be evidence of salvation in a true believer.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

VERSE: 1

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

VERSE: 2

Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conqu’rors we are!

VERSE: 3

His Word shall not fail you, He promised;
Believe Him and all will be well;
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

This was therapeutic. When I was in my 40's and married and had a son, it was just great for earth life. You both have changed from your 30's to your 40's. I'm in my 70's and wow will you ever see life different then. Also, when your wives leave you, you will be totally stunned as Adam was. You will wonder how a good Christian woman who has all her needs met could ever take her bible and just leave you. A guy said to me a while back, If having a wife was so good, why didn't Jesus have one? To imitate Him and Paul is to not even touch a woman. Well why, when you know YOUR wife is different? Jesus and Paul knew for sure what I didn't know. When a woman hears a gospel from Satan, even if there is no sin around at all, she loves it. Why? I don't have a clue.

Nothing wrong with it at all. I'm class of 99.

I seem to catch all the 90s references.😅

Put God first...everything else will come to you. He'll use you as a vessel of good for His good will and purpose. Read His Word and discern between men's doctrine's and His. We are responsible for what we believe.

When we love God, we are compelled to do His will. Don't you do the same for your loved ones? Only God is above our loved one's....He get's precedence.
