Plot twist: the first 2 shots were warning shots for the mountain to surrender, but it didn’t leave the area so they shot the third one.

To those wondering, the parking lot that the cannon is fired from is just north of Bird Point on the Seward Highway (at lat/long: 60.93191861444148, -149.36040009324583 on the map). There's nothing on the other side of the mountain except another mountain.

It is not a 20 foot long cannon, the barrel is less than 8 feet long....guy narrator always exaggerating the length of his gun.

True story in the 1980s, a house just down the street from where I lived in North Ogden, Utah was hit by an errant shell that missed the mountain. It caused a small fire but the house survived.
