Congress needs to make AI laws and artists should have the ability to sue these companies if their art is being harvested without their permission and these companies moving forward MUST ask permission from artists before using their art.

I hope those artists who lost the suit appeal the case if they can.

Kind of interesting that someone is kind of trying to claim a specific unique style as its own and copyright it. I can buy that when it come to unique products are copyright protected. But eg me claiming that I would eventually have written that song, generated by AI, because it is my style of music creation is a bit hard to grasp. 🤔

I don't think any company or legal entity should have the right to prevent data in the physical possession of another person from being read, viewed, or changed. Publishing is different, but the magnetic configuration of my purchased hard-disk is mine, and the physical atoms are mine. They are mine, not yours, not your IP, they are literally mine. If I want to look at them, alter them, or interact with them in any way, absolutely no third party should have any right to decide anything about it. Publishing is different. Once I share data with someone else, it makes sense that sales-law such as copy protections can come into effect. However, if I read text, image, audio, or any other data from the internet and it enters my physical possession (not just digital, it is part of my actual hardware device now) it should be considered as mine and you should have no right to tell me I can't view and analyze visual data in my own possession. Not only that, you can't enforce it. IMO only ignorant people would ever suggest that other people should possess our computers and local properties. Ignorant people such as the 80 year old senators making up laws they don't understand getting advice from big money people who also want to possess other people's things like the famous microsoft tractor lawsuit

Feel so confident that a bunch of Senior citizens with almost zero computer skills is making AI policy can't see how that will go wrong. Also soon instead of the Digital Divide it will be the AI Divide.

This was an amazing win for the people that use their brain and logic instead of their feelings.

What I don't get is all artists, including the ones behind the lawsuit, take inspiration from the art of others, and that's all models like Stable Diffusion are doing.

This lawsuit is basically just saying that AI artists can't exist because they can't play by the same rules. It's like telling women or black people that they aren't allowed to own property, then sending them on their way in a capitalistic society to compete with white men. If AI can't take into account the art of others, then artist can't either, which is impossible to enforce. Every artists who has ever lived used elements of the art of others in their own works.

So basically, all the lawsuits will end up like this because they aren't actually stealing.
