Quit to Make $4M/Year Doing This?!

Brandon Griffin learned how to turn a simple house painting service into a full-scale business that generates an average of $335K per month. And now he’s on track to bring in a total of $4M for 2024. The wild part though? He spent less than a total of $10K to get started.

Brandon grew up with the influence and success of his uncle as an entrepreneur owning a construction company and his father working for a big builder. He had worked for different home painting companies for years, but poor leadership and lack of consistent workflow at these businesses led Brandon to continuously hunt for new employment. Since he had learned the ins and outs from all of these different house painting services, Brandon decided to start one himself.

In this episode, Brandon gives insight into the business model, how he put efficient systems into place, leveraged Google and Facebook ads for higher conversion rates, and streamlined the business into running like a well-oiled machine without the need of his presence.

Scaling a painting business to this level, however, comes with its challenges. Brandon also shares how he overcame these and how hiring a business coach was pivotal to his success.

The main key to his success though is how he values the importance of customer satisfaction and how the business excels at making sure it stays at 100%. Brandon stresses that the first interaction with the customer up until the job is completed should be high quality at all times—which is what has led Triangle Pro to receiving over 250 5-star only reviews to this day.

I’ve painted since the 90’s. When cash work was common. These days, getting a cash painting job is much more difficult. People want tax ID. They don’t want to pay cash so often. When you’re not a business some owners try to get your SS number to claim you as an employee and take taxes. It’s just not worth the hassle. Prior referrals don’t make much different. They don’t care how good you are. People want to be involved with a business even if it costs triple the price. But when doing it as a business you need to figure out how to do all the paperwork and keep records. It becomes too much for a person that just wants to do a service, get paid, move on.

Listen, Listen…Listen is so TRUE! It also works well when I de-escalate mental health patients at a few hospitals in the Seattle area! But I’ll use it when we open our Boutique Beach Hotel called…Ohana Beach Suites! 🤙

As a residential painter, I am barely netting 10% as the highest in my market... I have got to get my costs of good sold under control... I think there are some pre-caution and prep items that I can forego to bring that delta down substantially. My pricing is about as high as it can get. We are consistently the highest price and my gross profit still struggles to be 40%.

Great video. Hiring independent contractors has more cons than pros in my opinion. When it comes to contractors you have limited amount of control which might affect the quality of the work. Also there is no incentive to the best job possible. A big pro is saving money on payroll taxes, this factors into healthy profit margins.

When the opportunity cost of getting in to a business is so low, wouldn't there be more competition? I guess it's the word of mouth and the ratings that help. Also this business is catered more towards the rich because the middle and lower class would probably paint their own house/apartments
