It's a shame Vista was so flawed in its performance and compatability because it is genuinely such a beautiful OS. Windows 11 looks pretty nice and all, but that taskbar on Vista is just a magnificient design.

Vista just had its own vibe man. Green and natural earth colors. Interactive widgets that are small versions of real life objects. Very musical sound effects. My favorite is the one for "device connected" that is just two staccato bass notes (same notes in reverse when you disconnect). I always found the sound so satisfying lol. The whole UI is just feels so cozy and soothing.
I really miss when tech wasn't trying to be "clean and minimalist" all the time and actually took bold artistic directions like that.

I keep forgetting how gorgeous Windows Vista looked, in some ways I prefer how vista’s implementation of Aero looks in comparison to 7’s, especially with its taskbar.
The only problem is actually running Vista.

I've had something similar to this on Windows 11, especially on my 11 ARM Mac install. 6 seconds; blazing fast.
Surprised to see that legacy OSes keep up with this standard today.

the ceiling fan is running at approximately 150RPM (each blade takes around 2 frames to do 60 degrees, the video is at 30 fps)

my calculations: 60 / ((2/30) * 6) = 150

I miss how windows vista looked and back when iPhones had a similar look to their OS, iOS 6 and below looked 3D and everything looked so cool, even 3'rd part apps had their own realistic design to them, the bars and buttons and stuff on them looked like they were made out of real materials like, glass, leather, paper, wood, metal, ect. I miss this so much. Now everything is just flat and simple looking and the only way to distinguish apps from each other is the their color. At least the UI of video games these days still have their own unique feel and design to them that match what the game is about

It's funny how back then, screen resolutions were usually low and pixelated, yet designs were trendy, realistic, and highly detailed. Nowadays, with super HD screens at our disposal, design has become very simple and minimalist everywhere, as if it's adapted for simpler screens instead (especially when this trend first emerged).

Very good, I love this OS's style (yes, 8/10 and 11 fits modern times better, but during the frutiger Aero era this was so good)

for anyone saying "my windows 10 and 11 boots just as fast" try disable the fast startup setting in power options ;) you're not booting from cold, you're booting from advanced hibernation, not the same as this video!
