Kenmore Elite Removing Rear Freezer Panel

A common problem with the Kenmore Elite fridge is ice buildup on the bottom of the freezer. Fixing the problem requires the removal of the rear freezer panel. This is the easiest way to remove the panel, without and breakage.

You can do this with a simple tie-wrap. Bend the tie wrap in half so it makes a v shape. Place tie through the top vent whole in back panel. Fasten the two ends of the tie wrap. Grap inside of the tie wrap loop and pull. Viola!! Your welcome

This is for LG freezers as well. The basket tracks and the left hand side of the door/drawer track had to come off for me to be able to get the panel out. Had two wads of gunk (looked like packing styrofoam) clogging my drain and had to pour boiling water in to get the frozen plug to finally give. Hair dryer didn't come close to working (from the inside). If it happens again I may try from the back first with a hair dryer. Silly that they haven't remedied this problem. Seems like putting the drain through the coils was a good thought, but the drain tube is made of plastic. If it was metal it would conduct the heat up to where the plug forms.

I have the same tool I also had to remove 3 screws and when I pull to remove the panel it doesn’t come out that easy

I have the same fridge- Kenmore Elite... But the water is collecting under the deli drawer in the refrigerator compartment... Don't see a drain tube. Is this fix you show here for that issue as well, or only if the water is getting to the bottom of freezer? Thanks so much for the help!

MY Kenmore is almost exact but it has the ice do I get that inner back panel off?....I am stuck in the middle of the whole process..

You can get the Bryce bar and harbor freight.

A paint can opener works great to remove the panel.
