In my humble amateur mind, I think the voidray first is something Hero has been doing a lot the last couple of months. I believe it is to try and counter Serral, who has an amazing ability to be able to scout what his opponent is doing better than any other player, and then always be ready to smash whatever the opponent is doing.

Game 1 here, DRG is basically playing blind the whole game. 6 adepts shows up, does not have enough lings, builds 24 lings, no followup, basically could have been at least 6 drones instead. All game, trap is on the edge of the creep, poking, DRG has no idea if a +1/blink timing is coming, or whatever it is, as he is blind. He is always overreacting a bit to late and never getting the droneadvantage that we usually see zerg being able to get.
