Passowords have been used as an authentication credential for a long time. Its simplicity makes it easy to be used but many breaches also come from it. Passwords can be frequently stolen if same one is being used over many sites and also can be inferred if it's in simple form. Sometimes users may even forget their passwords. Due to this defects, industry is shifting to authentication methods not requiring password. Nowadays biometric authentication is replacing traditional password thanks to the state of art sensor technology and the individual devices. Biometric information is nearly impossible to be stolen and don't need to be remembered, being protected by isolated space usually. FIDO is one of architectures that utilizing local biometric authentication and LINE has carried out a project named 'Passwordless LINE' which enables secondary devices to login using primary device as a key where biometric authentication proves its credential without password based on FIDO2 architecture.
