Independent Films that Make Money | Picking the Right Genre

Today, I'm going to over the first major step in making movies that make money, which is picking the right genre.
I'm almost a month into the quarantine and got a little sloppy with my light and background. Sorry about the reflection in my glasses and messy room.

However, I did have a record week for one of my documentaries. Don't Call Me Bigfoot streamed well over 1 million minutes in less than five days.
That's not too shabby and that's just on Amazon. Still waiting for the movie to land on other platforms. I'll be doing a video about how I made that happen later in the month.

My mission here is to help independent filmmakers earn more money what they love, making movies, and to make a positive impact in the filmmaking community through the power of video. I publish weekly videos on Indie Film Marketing, Indie Film Distribution, and independent filmmaking in general.

Thanks for the tips! I do have a "Day Job" as a marketer and/or graphic artist. Making films is more a paying hobby for me, not a sole source of income. If they do well, GREAT! If not, oh well. I will still make them no matter what. On another note, I do get hired on other projects because of my filmography.

This is a really smart way to do market research in the independent film industry. I love the organization and how everything is divided to give filmmakers a really smart edge.

I am glad I found you here. I am starting to look at marketing a micro budget feature and it is hard to find good information, thanks.

I went to IMDB and I couldn't find a budget for the films. How can I tell if a genre that is oversaturated?
