Characters who Quietly Disappeared:

Ronald McDonald: Ronald McDonald was once so famous he had his own Cartoon Series, However around 2016 McDonald’s has stopped mentioning him, and we haven’t seen him in any official American media since 2018. Many people suspect this is because the 2016 Clown Scares.

Next is Scrappy Doo: While yes there was a Scrappy Doo Villain in the live-action spooky island, but the true adaptation of the character hasn’t been officially used since 1988 in Reluctant Warewolf. While there are no official reasons, many believe this is due to the unpopularity of the Character.

Moving on we have Lunch from the Dragon Ball Series: She was a reacurring character in the Original Dragon Ball, Over time, her appearances dwindled until she quietly disappeared from the show after the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament. Creator Akira Toriyama later admitted in a Q and A that he simply forgot about her, But this contradicts a panel that offers an in universe explanation that she went off to chase Tenshinhan so basically he forgot that he written her off.

Next is Foxy and Roxy, They were originally sidelined for being Mickey and Minnie Mouse Clones, especially in the design department, but they technically are allowed to use these characters so long as they got redesigned, and that is exactly what append in the 1992 Tiny Toon’s Adveutres Episode, but after that episode they were never mentioned again without an explanation.

And Lastly is Toadsworth, his last official Appearance was Mario and Luigi Dream Team in 2013 Which is roughly 12 years ago. He once had a rather major Role as Peach’s Attendant to the Mushroom Kingdom, but now he has vanished without any explanation.

Toadsworth isn't really gone, as he's still used for Nintendo events and stuff like that. My guess is he just doesn't really fit in any games currently.

Fun fact: There was a Mcdonalds ad in collab with Minecraft. And in one of the last shots, we can see a portrait that has Ronald in it.

Fun fact:
Toadsworth was planned to appear in the Mario movie but Nintendo had him removed. The toad with glasses and a deep voice is most likely who replaced him.

Ronald McDonald can actually be seen in the Minecraft McDonalds ad as a painting.

Ronald is still used atleast here in Australia as he's the mascot of the Ronald McDonald houses

Some of these characters have made small re-appearances, notably scrappy appeared in the velma tv series as a minor antagonist and i believe toadsworth has made more recent appearances in paper mario games and the rpg games

A bit clarification on that Dragon Ball interview. In the manga at the start of Z, Bulma mentions she went to chase after Tezin. After that, he kinda struggled to bring her back into the story. She was supposed to show up during the spirit bomb scene during the Majin Buu fight, but that got changed to 17 last minute. Which is why his line doesn't make sense. Cause that was suppose to be Launch line. By the time of interview Toriyama forgot all that, so when he was asked what happened to her. He assumed he had forgotten like he did alot during Dragon balls run.

For Ronald, there was a law that banned cartoon/costumed mascot from advertising to kids and McDonald’s had to drop all their mascots, except Ronald due to a loophole because he was also the mascot for the Ronald McDonald house charity. He still can’t really be used for advertising due to the law, the other mascots are being used now only because there being used for “adult” meals

The reason Ronald McDonald and friends were phased out was because McDonald’s wanted to focus their target audience towards college students because they felt the kids of the 80s and 90s were all grown-up. That’s why they focus less on happy meals and had the dollar menu instead.

Ronald McDonald will sometimes make guest appearances at McDonald’s to entertain children, but he’s the mascot of the Ronald McDonald House, a nonprofit that pays for employees’s uniforms, but also helps parents with free housing if they need to travel for their children’s life-saving surgeries.

Unconfirmed rumors are that the director for the Scooby doo movie that featured Scrappy as the villain actually despised scrappy, hence why he was the villain, his goal was to make scrappy so detestable to everyone it would permanently destroy his image and have him never appear in any other reputable scooby-doo media ever again

I think The disappearance with Ronald McDonald had more so to do with the fact that the government around that time issued a bill that prevented a lot of food corporations that sold unhealthy products to market specifically to children. That's why McDonald's locations nowadays look more like they're going through a mid-life crisis than the child friendly locations that they used to be.
