Line Size Vs Lure Depth - Does it really matter?? (Sonar Testing)

How much does the line size effect the running depth of fishing lures?!? Does heavy line really make a bait run shallow? Is it better to throw light line to get your bait deeper? I put this question to the test with the help of live feed forward facing sonar, Garmin Panoptix. What do you think?! Would you rather throw lighter test line in order to get deeper running baits?

Great test! However, I would love to see you repeat this test using the same rod (i.e., action, length, etc.) and reel (i.e., line retrieve speed, gear ratio, etc.) leaving only line size as the variable of interest. I am sure you will find that line size matters, but using different rod and reels will definitely bias your results somewhat. I also would love to see the tests done using the same rod and reel, different diameter fluoro lines, and then again using similar test mono and even braided line. Thank for sharing your videos!
