I remember turning on Hairwork in rise of the tomb raider and my fps literally got cut in helf (had a gtx960) but goddamn it looked so good at that time - so i just left it on and played the game like that (i was gating around 35fps)

To be fair when developers try to get realistic hair in games it almost always looks terrible in comparison to the rest of their game. Maybe it is time for an overhaul on how hair is rendered but this improvement doesn’t seem too big.
