That would've been so neat and added depth to the palace rulers! Kaneshiro especially left me wondering with all that talk about how he was poor once etc after you defeat him. It felt like an awkward place to put that little bit of characterization, and it would have made more sense if expanded upon in something like a will seed cutscene

It doesn't add sympathy, it simply explains why he is the way he is.

It's not a bad thing to want to learn why and how a criminal ended the way they did, because it allows us to prevent other people from falling into the same fate.

I feel like it would’ve added a lot more context into why the palace rulers became so warped as people, people aren’t naturally born as rapists, murderers and other things, they are usually enabled earlier in life, which leads them to thinking that their actions are justified.

I think that they shouldn't have been removed, even if he deserves no sympathy, since they'd add more to the kind of 2 dimensional villains in vanilla p5

Flashbacks would have made the villains more understandable, irredeemable but understandable

It would've helped to explain why the palace rulers became who they are. Komashida with his Lust, Kaneshiro with his greed. I doubt they just decided to do this without there being some point in their life that ended up twisting their minds.

It would have been really cool to see what made the rulers so corrupt, especially Sae and Futaba. I feel like seeing how they each handle their parents’ deaths would be super sad to watch, but would totally strengthen the story and characters. But at the same time, imagine how dark it would be seeing wakaba’s mental shutdown. The hieroglyphs in futaba’s palace were already pretty dark but I couldn’t imagine actually seeing Futaba react to it or seeing her in that courtroom getting called a murderer, that would be heartbreaking.

Honestly I feel like this would have been a really important story telling feature, in showing off an aspect of characterization persona 5 sometimes neglects to address.
That being that nobody is born a monster, but nurtured into one. I think if this cutscene wasn’t cut it would bring even *more* weight to your attention as a phantom thief because it’s showing you breaking the cycle of turning a blind eye to abuse by exposing komoshida in the first palace.
Over all this is a really cool feature I don’t think they should have cut.

This cut feature would’ve been great to know about their deepest moments from the past to explain what led their motives to make them behave this way!

I think this would have been really cool, maybe not make the rulers sympathetic (minus two specific ones), but still show how they rose to their point in life
