I got it done. It was not as painful because they have a new treatment to freeze nerves that’s called Cryoablation. I’m getting my bars removed Friday.

Had the surgery at 16, single bar for 4 years. Now 37 and still have aches and pains in my chest from the surgery. Once they took the bar out the chest caved back in some but is definitely still an improvement. I have asthma as well and always feel like im in a pool from chest tightness when i try to breathe, so i am glad i had it done. The pain i experienced from it was the worst ive ever dealt with and i was not ready as a 16 year old. I hope the cryoblation helps a lot because they didn't have that when i had my surgery. Not to mention this was at the beginning of the big pharma caused opioid epidemic and led to me using opiates for two decades.

Surgery looks way too painful, even not mentioning about time to recover so i just decided to live with it. My chest is indented pretty severe and my heart and lungs have 15-20% reduced capacity but thankfully i have no problems.

I have pectus and will be getting the surgery because it moved my heart and reduced my lung capacity by 20%. My ribs are so caved in that I have flexibility issues in my whole back. And now I have to relearn breathing, sitting and standing

I've seen suction systems effectively used in children to correct cases of pectus excavatum... a much better starting option if the patient is eligible

Im 23 and have pectus 2, 5-3cm with flared ribs, potbelly and my heart and lungs works at 90% because of it.

The surgery I’ve seen for that is so gnarly. Shove a curved rod across the ribs following the concave line then the surgeon wrenches the bar 180° to make the chest conveyed. So gnarly!

If you have it very severe, it can however, lead to serious cardiac symptoms.

It is important to note that these effects on the function of the heart and lung are not life-threatening and that individuals with pectus excavatum can live a full and normal life.

I also have barrel chest from childhood but I don't have any of bad effects, even I can breath normally. I don't have asthma or any of lung problems. The only problem is that my chest shape is not nomal, It's slightly swollen in the front and that's why my overall body shape looks kinda ugly

I had this surgery! The suregry can fail, and the bar flips while it's inside of you, does not feel good

My husband had that never corrected until a farm tractor crushed his chest

I’ve had this my whole life and my doctor has never brought it up lmao. My uncle got it fixed in his 40’s and his son when young

I dont think that pectus excavatum affects life expectancy. Maybe in extremely severe cases when you have a huge hole like 7cm, where your heart works at 50%, but overall i dont think thats true.

I have this. Prolly not a severe case. Makes you pecs look way bigger then they are

Don't you think that would be better to say the benefits of surgery? Many of those who need the surgery are adolescents. And many of them really need this surgery. You are scaring them to death. You should really consider how you create your videos🤨

Had the surgery at 14. Not as painful as you'd think. Got to keep the bar too so
