We've had good luck wrapping sammy in a purrito during thunder storms. I imagine that will work with fireworks too. I talk to sammy all the time. He might not understand the words but he certainly knows what the cadence means.

Ban all fireworks, I hate them so does my cat. She's so terrified of them, I either turn up tv louder or play loud music. The constant noise helps, its the sudden boom sound that scares her.

I think the top one for most animals is keeping calm yourself and being with them, ., most like the comfort of you being there and not having anxiety over it yourself.Each animal is different though, as we see with you bunch..I am sure Splash is the one that freaks out the most during it and hides.

Great ideas for calming your cat tomorrow night. Thanks for the information. This is Marty's first 4th of July with me so I don't know for sure how he's going to react. I talk to Marty all the time. Don't know if he understands me or not. I think he does sometimes anyway.

Cats might not understand exact words but they understand body language, tone of voice and they are very good with temporal memory....meaning that that will pre-react to july 4 having been through it. So, I think they do understand us when we preemptively speak to them when they are having anxiety.

My cats were outside today because i figured it would be calm till sundown and one of my neighbors launched like 100 fireworks off at noon for some reason! The cats were so panicked and hid under the car and took a few minutes to coax them inside. Now they are inside under the bed waiting for more fireworks. I do the explaining/talking to my cats all the time and i feel like they really do understand. Good video tips and everyone have a safe 4th of July!

Thanks for the help. We have them in and around us. If we hear any around the house we try to distract them both the dogs and the cats.
