Embrace the fuzziness. I strongly recommend using this in 4K on an OLED with HDR...but you don't have to. It's a free country.

*Retro Crisis GDV-NTSC shader presets would NOT BE POSSIBLE without the Guest Advanced shader:

Whoever can guess all the games, becomes next President of the United States of America...

Looks like I'm looking at lost crt footage from the 90's, that's the vibe I get from this showcase.

That Super Metroid be how I remember it on cart. Matches the sounds and atmosphere WAY BETTER

I love how much atmosphere it adds to the screen, especially in Super Metroid. I can't wait for a PSX version and go through the horror classics.

Damn. I grew up playing SMW all day, every day for YEARS when I was a kid. Seeing that footage brought a tear to my eye. It was like being transported back in time. This is the most accurate retro filter Ive ever seen.

I know myself and many of us have said how much we love RF and that dirty look. So I must thank you for all your hard work to make our dreams a reality. I really love it and I appreciate you.

I firmly remember gaming with an RF cable in the early 90s. You had always had a bit of noise that would bleed into the image, so it wasn't quite as stable as this. I yearned for a TV that had composite capability to improve the overall quality. Going to S-Video in the late 90s was a game changer in terms of clarity, with component not doing much better.

Of course, like the rest of us, the moment we went to LCD it turned into "whoa, look at how CRISP those pixels look!" only to realize it was so crisp, we lost intended detail.

Anyway, I find that now that we are going back to trying to emulate the RF cable and composite look, the fact that we aren't playing on a tiny 13 inch CRT is the key difference in getting the kids to understand what we saw when we were younger. Taking that quality of image and blowing it up to 75" in our living rooms lets us see the detail we could barely make out 30 years ago in ways that absolutely change our appreciation for games like Chrono Trigger, Mario, and Final Fantasy.

It is also why I still cannot stand modern retro games where they emulate a sort of Atari 2600 sprite design when the real master work in sprites were in the SNES/Genesis era.

The BLOCKS ARENT WHAT ARE PRETTY! It is what you can fake the screen into blurring them into is the true art.

This takes me back to sitting waaay to close to the tv and playing SNES for countless hours as a kid (especially MarioPaint) Those lines are like seeing an old friend... after all these years, hello again!

Dude. Whoa.
I don't have a lot of old memories of the Super Nintendo from when I was a kid 'cause I didn't own one, but I had a friend in the 4th grade who did. We would play Mega Man X at his house sometimes. Now, I have played Mega Man X countless times on emulators and even my own SNES in the years since, but this hit me like a brick - memory of sitting in his living room and playing it after school. That's crazy to me. I think the combo of the RF sound and this new filter just combine wonderfully if they are having that effect.

I am going to try it on my 17inch IPS 1080p laptop display and nobody can stop me. Thank you very much for sharing your shaders.

This is just nostalgic as hell. I usually lean more toward a super sharp pvm kind of look, but this did some amazing things to Castlevania and Metroid's moodiness and I'm really tempted to play with some per game configs now haha.

Looks lovely. Those Super Nintendo visuals just hold up so well and look great.

It seems that whenever something bad/boring is happening for me, you always release a new shader preset to help enlighten my mood. Whether it's on the same day or the day after.

As for this new one, it looks pretty good! I'm going to test it out on Android now!

wow, it gives the games so much more needed depth. i wish when developers are making retro inspired games they could have retro filters that look this good

You should include some 80s and 90s VHS/DVD anime/cartoon rips in these showcases. I realize retrogaming is the primary focus here, but there's a growing interest in the nostalgia of CRTs paired with hand-drawn animation too. *Edit:* And there are a few different video playback cores in Retroarch. */Edit*

Last night, I spent more hours than I'm willing to admit playing SNES games.
I've been emulating for over 25 years, and thanks to your work on both the Realistic RF CRT Shader and Stereo Composite, I've felt 100% of the memories from playing my SNES as a kid, between the years 1991 and 1997.
I'm so grateful for your work that I've become a member of your channel . I'm really looking forward to your next projects (those for Genesis, Game Boy Advance, NES, etc. also seem magical to me).

P.S.: Are you considering working on shaders for Retroarch's DOSBOX and the original Game Boy in the future?
