Vintage spokeshave restoration

I bought a vintage Record 151 spokeshave at the local market for £1 and this is my restoration of that item, its the one with the curved bottom so now I have to find a flat bottomed one to complete the set.

It was a fun restoration and not too difficult but I did have a missing part that I had to get on eBay. In the end it all worked out beautifully.

That cleaned up well. Shame it was missing the cap iron but glad you found one for a reasonable price. Sadly parts are often missing in vintage tools.
Record used to sharpen their hand plane blades at 25 deg. This was stamped onto the blade. I do not have any Record spokeshaves so cannot check.
As you quickly observed, spokeshaves can easily get shaves stuck in the opening, since no chip breaker in the design.
Using a spokeshave can be a lot of fun.
Dave.
