If the name is confusing, is because Audi has merged the A4 and A5 together since the A4 platform will become electric, the internal combustion will be the 3,5,7,9 etc.

The new A5/S5 family features for the first time ever an Audi combustion engine to enable partially electric driving thanks to the new MHEV plus technology.

It features also Audis brand new interior, with lots of new tech that we will cover in the latter posts. For now, enjoy the first photos and the detailed video.

For everybody that wants to know my opinion. Here it comes. I know the world is huge and we all have different tastes, but since I’ve been doing this for over 20 years, I think I have a pretty good idea what is good and what is not. All I can tell you is what I felt when I saw this car live and as I was shooting it. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I’ve been very very critical towards Audi and their direction the last 5 years, and also the lack of new exciting models. But this, this made me feel so good inside. Yes, we have the badges situation, but I know that is gonna be solved within the next few months, and all of you that have been writing and expressing themselves on the Auditography channels, can tap themselves on the shoulder. Now, this car has such a presence in real life, and it’s so freaking beautiful, I almost teared up. The quality of the interior is also much better than for example their latest Q6, Q4 etc models. That made me feel good inside. I seriously looked over on my coworker and told him ”Do you know that this is the first time in 5 years I feel like I want to buy a new Audi?’. He looked over to me and said: ”I can’t get over how beautiful this car is”. So, I don’t call myself like what I think, it has to be like that. I just expressed my 2 cents and you do whatever you want with it. Thank you and have a lovely day!

The rear 3 quarter view is really a looker, however I don't really like the front end nor the headlights. Loved the original B9 for having such a clean and sharp front end without visible gaps and the barrier tape kind of DRL.
On the inside... well it does look good but seeing reviews from the Q6 already it is a huge step backwards. The shiny plastics and the big infotainment screen will reflect the sun directly in your eyes. Too much shiny black plastics and touch elements. For gods sake Audi, bring back the proper clicking buttons every Audi guy loves.

As beautiful as it is, there are 2 things I wish they did better. Firstly, I think the MMI could have been designed better. The huge bezels at either side looks like elephant ears and the screen for the passenger seems like an afterthought as its design isn't complimentary to the rest of the dash. Secondly, the climate control should have remained physical. Audi was the last German manufacturer to still offer physical climate controls on most of its models. But that's slowly eroding away. Other than that, it's an absolutely beautiful car. For now, I still prefer the B9 and I have been waiting patiently for this to go on sale so the price of the B9 drops.

Are the renderings correct that this will switch over to Quattro Ultra with AWD clutch? There is a lot of conflicting information. If they are in fact taking away the permanent Quattro AWD with Torsen center differential, then that is not acceptable and we need to speak up. A front wheel drive biased system does not belong in a true performance vehicle, especially one at this price point.
