Bengal Panchayat Polls: Litmus Test For TMC, BJP, Left-Congress Alliance Ahead Of 2024 LS Elections

West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury criticised the timeline for the filing of nominations for the upcoming Panchayat polls, saying that limited time has been alloted for the filings. Candidates will have to file nominations by June 15, the State Election Commission said.

At a press conference on Friday, Chowdhury said, "Only eight days are given to file a nomination. So the West Bengal government and Commission have to answer this - can 73,000 people file nominations? It is clear that the government wants to make the opposition weak from the beginning."
