West Bengal Panchayat Polls 2023: It's been an hour into the voting that has begun in the state and already in that one hour we are looking at several instances of violence and crude bombs that have now been recovered in this one last hour alone. West Bengal panchayat elections are currently being voted on. A single phase of voting is taking place. Nearly 928 seats in 22 zilla parishads, 9,730 panchayat samities, and 63,229 gram panchayat seats will be decided by around 5.67 crore voters exercising their right to vote. There were several violent incidents and fatalities in the state's panchayats during the pre-election period. The elections will be a litmus test for both parties ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in which the Trinamool Congress, the Indian Secular Front, and the Bharatiya Janata Party are vying for control of local governments.
